‘We haven’t discussed trading pick one’ – Carlton footy boss

Outgoing Carlton Football Club Head of Football Andrew McKay addressed the rumors about Carlton trading away the lucrative pick 1 in this years national draft saying they will look at all options but want to hold onto the pick as well as adding mature players.

“We are aware that Adelaide are desperate to get their hands on Lukosious and want to package up a few picks. To be honest with you though, we haven’t discussed giving it away.” McKay told Macquarie Sports Radio Melbourne Breakfast show.

McKay reaffirmed that the Blues were keen to hold on to pick one as well as adding in some experienced footballers through Free Agency.

“We are really keen to go to the draft and get a good young player, we are in the window now where we are looking at Free Agency and getting some more mature trades in.”

The outgoing footy boss said there were holes that the Blues desperately needed to fill and they will head to the open market to try and add more experience to their side.

“We are a bit light on between that 24-27 age bracket so we need to strengthen that up a bit.”
