Wingard silence was deafening, according to Tredrea

Former Port Adelaide star turned commentator Warren Tredrea says the silence from the Chad Wingard camp always pointed to him exiting the club.

The 25-year-old officially requested a trade to Hawthorn on Thursday but the Power were only prepared to do the deal if Hawks young gun and South Australia native Ryan Burton was involved in the trade.

Treadrea told Halftime with James Willis there’s been a “smell” about the situation for a number of weeks.

“Wingard was very quiet at the Port Adelaide Best & Fairest, he stayed away from a lot of people,” he said.

“If he wanted to stay, he has media deals in Adelaide and numerous chances to go on the record (and clarify his future).

“The silence has been deafening.”
