Winx co-owner hits back at English comments that the super mare is overrated

Winx co-owner Debbie Kepitis loves her horse and she certainly was not going to stand for an Englishman having a shot at her.

At the Breakfast with the Best function at Moonee Valley English race commentator Matt Chapman suggested Winx is overrated saying, “Back home we feel that Winx is beating fairly moderate horses”.

Chapman also challenged the notion that Winx, who has won 28 straight races, is the best horse in the world. Instead he championed England’s Cracksman after his Champion Stakes win at Ascot last weekend, “If the [international] handicappers do their job properly [Cracksman] will now be the best horse in the world.”

However Kepitis stood up for the super mare on Macquarie Sports Radio Mornings, hitting back at Chapman:

“He’s from England. What do you expect? They don’t know how good our racing is. They think they’ve got the best races in the world.

“Winx I’m sure will speak for herself on Saturday and he will have egg on his face then.

“Matt’s just trying to make a name for himself out here.”
