World Surfing League “very aware” of possible shark attacks

Experienced surfing reporter Reggae Ellis confirmed there were various monitoring devices in place to detect sharks during World Surf League events such as the Margaret River Pro.

Speaking on Afternoons with Mieke Buchan, Shane McInnes and Sam Stove, Ellis said on the back of the Mick Fanning shark attack at the J-Bay Open in 2015, officials were acutely aware as to the danger of waters in Western Australia.
