“Zampa’s got to come in” – Lehmann on ODI team changes

After Australia’s capitulation in the first One Day International against South Africa questions have obviously been asked about whether there will be changes to the side ahead of the second game in Adelaide this Friday

Former Australian coach Darren Lehmann spoke on the Macquarie Sports breakfast show about the changes he thought should be made, “I think Zampa will definitely play in Adelaide as the spinner and I think Shaun Marsh if, he’s fit, he’ll come straight back in. McDermott is there for cover. So the only changes I can see is Marsh in for  Short and Zampa in probably for Coulter-Nile.”

Lehmann added, “Shaun Marsh has got a couple of hundreds his last few One Day games for Australia so he’s got to come back in. I think they missed a trick not playing a spinner in Perth. So they almost played 5 quicks with Stoinis, so I think Zampa’s got to come into that side and see how he goes”

The man affectionately known as Boof was also asked about the performances of Jason Sangha and Jack Edwards, who both scored maiden Shield tons for NSW yesterday, and if they should now be in consideration for Test selection.

“I think you’ve got to make a few more runs in the Shield. It was great to see though wasn’t it. I worked with them up here (QLD) in the winter and they were fantastic young kids and they’ve got some talent. So i’d like to see them make 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 hundreds before you give them an opportunity. Having said that if they continue to make hundreds, say 3 in a row, then they’re in line aren’t they. But there are lots of other players making hundreds”
